The Unspoken Art

By Angela Pearson

This is for the girl who wears her heart on her sleeve

she is not naive, but she loves hard and hardly ever stops

this is for the girl with barb wire protecting her heart

she's not distant, but she knows the poignant taste of betrayal all too well

this is for the girl with a heart full of gold

she's not easy, but she welcomes you in without inhibition

this is for the girl who is intimidating

she is not mean but, she is impervious to your gimmicks

this is for the girl with the contagious laugh

she's not silly, but she embraces the spontaneity of life

this is for the girl who is strong

she is not apathetic, but she has unwavering resilience

no matter how she is perceived

she feels alone

misunderstood...

she would never admit it though

she is an artist

practicing the unspoken art of covering up

Excellent poem. Only one who really 'knows' can write those words.
